Irene

Well, it's Sunday and Irene has come and gone. Yesterday we had rain off and on all day as she made her way up the coast. It wasn't until later last night when the heavy winds came. And boy did they come. We have a rather large tree right outside our back door and the noise of the wind blowing through the tree all night was a little nerve wracking. We did lose power during the night but it was restored earlier this morning. Thank goodness the only cleanup we have are of all the leaves in the backyard that were blown off the tree.

Wedding Weekend

Sorry I haven't posted since last week. This week I have started a new job and have been busy trying to get our life together. Our house is still currently a wreck and I have a list a mile long of things I need to do. However, all this will have to be put on hold because this weekend we're headed to New Jersey for this little ladies wedding.

I'm so excited to be part of her wedding festivities and am looking forward to Saturday when her and Mike say I DO. I will be sure to have an update once we get back. Have a great weekend!

P.S. Her dance moves are one of a kind. As seen above at our wedding!

Hello Again...

Well folks I'm back and I'm married. I figured I'd post a picture of the new Mr & Mrs. It's been a busy eight months, but it's now time to post regularly to the old blog. So stay tuned...

Christmas Decor 2010 - Part I

Here are a few pictures of our Christmas decorations. As soon as I can get blogger to upload the others without taking forever I will. In the meantime, here you go (MOM!)...

The family room entertainment center has decorations on most of the shelves, with lighted garland in front of the tv.

The only decoration in the kitchen, besides dish towels, is above the sink.

I wanted to do something different on the dinning room table and this is what I came up with. I already had the tins, place settings, and mesh. All I had to buy were the trees, ornaments and chargers.

DIY Headboard

Two weeks ago Sven and I spent most of our Saturday building this headboard. We just followed the tutorial with only one modification - I didn't buy the 2 inch foam squares but instead bought 2 full size foam bed toppers each for $10. I saved about $40 going that route. Here is the final product...
The fabric is an upholstery fabric from Calico Corners. Since it was so thick the hardest part was making the buttons. I highly recommend the above tutorial if you're considering making a tufted headboard.

Wordless Wednesday: Our Fur Child

I can't believe we've had this cute face for a little over a year. Even though he takes up a lot of our time, attention and eats a lot of carpet, we wouldn't want it any other way. He sure does make us laugh a lot!
